Great Expectations

I chose this image to represent the this weeks reading in Great Expectations because Pip is always dreaming of bigger things. In this picture, the sad caterpillar is dreaming about becoming a butterfly. This relates to Pip because he is tired of the life as who he is, and wants to flourish into something better and more glamorous.

  1. ahh, very nice. the fact that he's just DREAMING of being a butterfly in the picture symbolizes Pip more than if he was actually the butterfly. It gives way for deeper interpretation, such as if he will never be the butterfly he wants to be, because his "expectations" are too high. And if he continues at this state, maybe he will actually end up becoming a lower form of a caterpillar..

anyways, my comment is too long; good job Lilly!

  2. Well I don't know how far the picture actually goes in symbolizeing the book though because the catepillar will eventually become a butterfly where as Pip might not achieve his goal.
